The Retford Business Forum Christmas Planning Team is finalising plans for this year’s Retford Christmas Market and Lights Switch-On. It will be held on Sunday 21st November, from 10.00am to 6.00pm, in and around the Market Square in Retford. (some locations may vary)
Dino Kingdom Thoresby, Nott’s huge dinosaur event, is coming for two weeks only from 15 to 31 October 2021. Made has been given the opportunity to release a family ticket into the wild in a competition for our lucky readers!
Coming from the creators of the award-winning Lightopia Festival, the event promises to bring dinosaurs all of sizes ‘back to life’. Animatronic models that move and roar including a huge Tyrannosaurus Rex and the even bigger Apatosaurus will take everyone on a Jurassic adventure. There will also be smaller dinosaurs to seek, including hatching babies.
Following disappointment that the 2020 festival was unable to take place due to COVID restrictions, organisers have been working to ensure a 2021 festival date will go ahead. The festival has always been about uniting the community, friends and family in a fun, safe and secure environment.
The official national Mayflower 400 programme draws to a close this July in Plymouth, who have led the commemorations for the 2020 anniversary. Further events are planned in and around North Notts through the summer, culminating in Illuminate events this November marking the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims’ first Thanksgiving. Many of the events planned for the international Mayflower commemorations have been postponed from last year due to the pandemic.

live demonstrations by celebrity chefs at this years food festival
Don't miss out on the North Notts Food Festival this year there will be live demonstrations by celebrity chefs, competitions and entertainment. The festival will also include a mixture of artisan food market stalls so visitors can smell, taste and buy a selection of delicacies from local vendors.
Author and award-winning TV producer, Jo Willett, will be joining an online event hosted by the Harley Gallery at Welbeck this summer. As author of the newly released The Pioneering Life of Mary Wortley Montagu, Jo will talk about the extraordinary Lady Mary and her friendship with Welbeck Abbey’s Lady Henrietta Cavendish Holles Harley.
