The Children’s Bereavement Centre

Light Up Their Memory This Holiday Season

The festive season is a time for joy—but it can also be a time for reflection. The Children’s Bereavement Centre is inviting families and community members to gather this December for its annual Christmas Candlelight Services, a heartwarming way to remember loved ones who are no longer with us.

This year, two special evenings are planned:

  • Thursday 4th December 2025 at 6.30pm – St Giles Church, Balderton
  • Tuesday 9th December 2025 at 6.30pm – St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Mansfield

These free, family-friendly gatherings offer a peaceful space to reflect, remember, and honour cherished memories. Guests can expect candle-lighting ceremonies, readings, hymns, and traditional Christmas songs, followed by a cozy finish with hot chocolate and mince pies.

Adding extra sparkle to the Newark service, performances by Norwell Village Voices, Chuter Ede Primary School, and Barnby Road Choirs promise to bring warmth, music, and a sense of community to the evening.

Attendance is open to everyone, whether or not you have previously accessed support from the Children’s Bereavement Centre. And for those who can’t be there in person, you can light a virtual candle online and share messages, names, or memories of loved ones through the Centre’s Christmas Candlelight Tribute Page: https://christmascandlelight.memorypage.org/

To have a loved one’s name read aloud at the service, simply reach out to Julie at 01636 551739 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

with the name and your chosen venue.

The Children’s Bereavement Centre hopes these services offer comfort, connection, and a gentle moment to celebrate those who live on in our hearts.
