Flight Simulator Lands At IASTI Newark

Students at the UK’s first International Air and Space Training Institute (IASTI) Newark will receive virtual flight training thanks to its in-house simulator.  The Alsim ALX worth £35,000, is a standout feature of the newly developed workshop at Newark College’s interim IASTI site, where students get hands-on with the tools and technologies used within the aviation industry.

Newark Castle Restoration Plans

Newark and Sherwood District Council has made another huge leap forward this week towards realising ambitious plans to develop Newark Castle into an exciting visitor attraction. An application for planning permission has been submitted which, if approved, will allow work to continue on the Castle Gatehouse Project as planned. Securing planning permission is also an important step towards finalising the project’s business case to be submitted to central government to release the £2.6m Towns Fund grant allocation for this fantastic project.

Levelling Up Investment In Newark

Newark and Sherwood District Council, in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council and Urban&Civic, has been successful in their bid for a £20 million investment, into the Southern Link Road (SLR), from the central Government’s Levelling Up Fund (LUF). This is one of just 17 successful bids out of 84 UK-wide authorities that submitted, and the only successful bid from a Nottinghamshire district.

Middlebeck has recently announced sponsorship support for a local football team, Newark Brazil, thanks to the neighbourhood’s master developer Urban&Civic. Newark Brazil is an inclusive football club, offering children from 4-18 years old the chance to have fun, develop their skills and socialise. First Students Take To The Sky

Shelby Valentine, Lexie Johnson and Alex Vickery have become the first IASTI Newark students to pilot an aircraft in flight. The trio were treated to a flight experience with AeroSPARX display pilot Rob Barsby as a reward for their good attendance, work ethic and attitude toward their course. They even got to fly a loop-the-loop.

An agreement has been reached between Newark Air Museum (NAM) and the Lincolnshire’s Lancaster Association (LLA), that has resulted in the ownership of the Avro Shackleton, WR977 and the Avro Vulcan, XM594 being immediately transferred to NAM.
