West Nottinghamshire College - Welbeck Estate - Cuckney House
West Nottinghamshire College has launched a new work placement initiative with the historic Welbeck Estate, with the first two travel and tourism students beginning their hands-on experience at Cuckney House, the estate’s Grade II listed Georgian manor.
Clumber Park is turning up the holiday magic with its most enchanting Christmas Glasshouse display yet. This year, the historic walled kitchen garden has been transformed into a shimmering festive haven, crafted by the park’s dedicated Gardens team under the guidance of Senior Gardener Dale Iles.
Ashfield District Council purchased the premises at 1-5 Outram Street earlier this year using money from their £62.6m Towns Deal and have leased it to the college.
Every year the WSA choose a worthwhile charity to support by raising funds to make donations. This year we chose Bassetlaw Hospice in Retford and two of its representatives who are responsible for fundraising accepted our invitation to open our exhibition. Debbie Rawlings and Bonney Baggaley each gave an insight into the excellent service the hospice provides for patients, family and carers and their dependence on fundraising by supporting organisations and the generosity of the public in general. The Awards, set up by the Farm Retail Association (FRA), champion the best farm shops, pick your owns and farmers markets. A shortlist with three finalists in each of the eight award categories was announced earlier this week with The Welbeck Farm Shop short-listed in the Large Farm Shop of the Year category while the Harley Café, which sits across the Courtyard from the Shop, features in the Farm Café/ Restaurant of Year shortlist. The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on Wednesday 12th March 2025 at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham.

Lisa will step down at the end of February 2025. The charity has appointed Bryony Bond as the next Director. Bryony will join the Harley Foundation in March 2025, after success as the Director of Yorkshire Contemporary (formerly The Tetley).
