Part of the summer series of Belvoir Revisited events celebrating key moments in history both real and imagined, the Steampunk Weekend offers an escape to an alternate futuristic reality.

Visitors will discover the history of how Steampunk started, climb the famous Belvoir Hill with the mountaineering duo, and explore the Castle and grounds spotting the captivating acts along the way.

Top hats, copper goggles and ruffles galore will feature in the fantastical outfits along with displays of props and vehicles. Everyone is welcome to dress up and get into the spirit of the weekend.

The Ministry of Steampunk has been at the forefront of the scene for more than a decade and organise the world's largest steampunk festival.

They say: “Steampunk is all about weaving stories, ideas, concepts and creativity in order to develop a universe that never existed but it would be fun to live in.”

Stay a little longer and enjoy the delights of the Engine Yard shopping village, a converted 19th century industrial yard now filled with independent retailers and places to refuel. The whimsical Balloon Bar with its interiors filled with hot air balloons and copper clogs makes for a perfect setting to end a fantastical day out.

After a day of Steampunk excitement in the Castle and Grounds, why not join the Ministry of Steampunk to party away the night in the servants’ quarters at the Steampunk Butler’s Ball on Saturday 25 June? After a welcome drink in the Guard Room, there will be music and dancing in the old castle kitchens. You will be able to visit the Porter’s Lodge and the Servant’s Hall, where the pay bar is situated, and enjoy the outdoor space around the castle as well as a marquee space in the courtyard.
