Retford Big Market Day - 16th March

A brilliant Retford Big Market Day was held on Saturday 16th March 2024.

On Saturday 16th March, Retford Big Market Day was a great success with crowds of people in town and some market traders even selling out of stock. The Easter Bunny – on stilts – visited the Market and the Town Centre, and was delighted to have her photograph taken with children of all ages. Hathersage Brass Band played brilliantly in the open air by The Burger Grill providing great free fun family entertainment for all!

There will be Retford Big Market Days on the third Saturday of every month for the rest of the year with more free family entertainment. The next one will be on Saturday 20th April when one of St George’s knights – on stilts - will be making an appearance in the Town Centre, just before St George’s day on 23rd.

The Farmers’ Market was, as usual, busy from the start with lots of delicious things to eat – Redhill Farms, Goachers Fruit, Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese, Turners Bakery, Lime Tree Pantry Foods, Gastronomy, Hunter’s Game, Tuxford Mill grains, and more - always a great selection!

The Craft Market was open from 08.30am to 2.30pm in the Buttermarket and offered refreshments from the Girlguiding team, which were especially popular, as well as great crafts, books, bags, and charity tombolas. The Traditional Market, as always, provided terrific value and service from some of the friendliest market traders around – for example, Goddard & Page Fine Cheese, Dean Smith fruit and vegetables….and John the ‘Eggman.’

There was a great ‘buzz’ around the town with the rest of the excellent town cafes, shops and pubs providing a really warm and friendly welcome – why would you go anywhere else?

Retford Business Forum (RBF) supports Retford Big Market Days in partnership with North Notts BID and Bassetlaw District Council, and RBF is very grateful for the help provided by its partners and supporting organisations, stallholders, performers, and everyone who comes to support the events.
