The destination celebrates 40 years of cable car flights and 50 years since the current owners took over the stewardship of the hilltop estate, restoring the woodland path network, reopening and enhancing the cavern tours and adding the award-winning facilities, exhibitions and attractions that modern day visitors have come to enjoy.

Joanna Brown, a relative of Benjamin Bryan, the Victorian owner of the Heights (1840’s), will be pushing the big green button to restart the cable cars for the season on 10th February at 9.55am. Joanna (from Somerset) was on holiday in the Peak District last summer when she came face to face with Mr Bryan, and realised she was a descendant of the Visitor attraction owner!

The Heights will be celebrating the golden and ruby anniversary year with new stunning visual effects in the Great Masson Cavern (opening Easter), new exhibition displays about the construction of the cable car 40 years ago, further landscaping improvements, anniversary decorations and additional heritage planting across the estate.

A programme of living history events, musical concerts and seasonal entertainment will ensure the Heights is placed in the spotlight as one of England’s top tourist attractions for a great day out. For more about our anniversary events, see www.heightsofabraham.com/2024
