Your garden in winter provides a beautiful landscape to escape to not only for your health, both in body and mind, but also to make sure that you keep up the maintenance and look ahead to preparing your outdoor space for the months and the year ahead.
Following our concentration on contemplations of lighting in the last issue, I’d like to now consider how our manifesto relates specifically to concepts of furniture or bespoke focal points within the interior. This is the fourth and final layer of the architectural concept underneath which proposals of spatiality, materiality and lighting have been overlaid and integrated into the architectural palimpsest.
Situated on Castle Boulevard, Sofas & Stuff’s new showroom is spacious, bright and airy with plenty of off-street parking: a relaxing place in which to see and try out the company’s wide and varied range of bespoke, handmade sofas, chairs, footstools and beds. The new Nottingham showroom is the company’s 21st store, with two more due to open this Autumn.

The garden visiting year is drawing to a close, but there are still gardens to visit in September and October. Looking back at 2022 it has been a very good year for the National Garden Scheme, there have been weather challenges, the heatwave, dry winter and spring, but somehow the gardens still managed to look beautiful and attracted lots of visitors. June was a bumper month with 350 gardens open nationally and between them these gardens raised over £1 million pounds, a record achievement.

1. Hanging the Curtain Rail in the Wrong Place:
While calculating the correct curtain length is impactful, it is equally important that you hang the rail in the right place. The curtain rail should be hung at the correct height, typically about 100mm above the window frame. To find the correct size of your curtain rail, you should measure the width of the window and add around 25 to 30cm for each side of the window. So add approximately 51 to 61cm to your total.
